• Catalogue and classify library stock (that’s library-speak);
• Input meta-data and ensure it fits the subject taxonomy (that’s geek-speak);
• Or, in normal terms, ensure that materials are correctly described and categorised so that readers can find what they’re looking for.
• Work with the readers to help them use the catalogue and other online resources.  This can involve …
• User education
• Writing leaflets
• Answering queries
• Giving tips as to better ways of searching the system
• Being aware of current best-practice and useful online resources
• Using our own extensive subject knowledge for the benefit of our readers
